About Letters
The core of Group 361’s work is writing and sending Urgent Action letters each month. We distribute most of these letters pre-printed in packets to our members, who then sign and mail them individually. Thanks to the efforts of our members, we are able to post letters so members and visitors can download and edit the letter or letters they choose to mail.
Each letter is based on a fact sheet summarizing the results of the investigations done by Amnesty International’s teams around the world.
Please let us know if you send one of these letters. We would like to add your mailing to our month’s count of letters sent. All letters are in Rich Text format which is compatible with your word processor.
If you are having problems downloading a file, contact Maureen.
Tips on writing and sending letters can be found in the writing guidelines for Urgent Actions from this link.
To understand the impact of the letters, see these Success Stories. To participate in the letter campaign with the group, see [Will you help? ]. After you have contacted Carrie to receive Actions, you may submit letters for posting on the site to Maureen.

Use the UA Number: Note the two alpha letters are short for Urgent Action -- ‘UA’ -- paired with a number and year which allows you to locate fact sheets on the case. Our members write their letters from the researched fact sheets. Or, see updates on an UA case, by typing the number or name into a search box. For example, the number search might be worded ‘‘Amnesty Public Index UA 320/07’’ and the name search, ‘‘Amnesty Public Index UA Fathi el-Jahmi’’.
